Thanks to everyone who made it out to the Drink & Draw on Saturday night! We had a full house, including some new faces, and everyone seemed to have a lot of fun. The plan is to have the next D&D at the end of March or beginning of April - we'll update here when the specifics are nailed down, and you can join the Facebook Group for more updates, like these photos taken by event organizer Nathan O'Brien.
A reminder that this coming weekend (March 1-3) is the Emerald City ComiCon in Seattle. You can see the big list of local creators who will be exhibiting there in our last update: CSG at ECCC!
Also, ECCC will be having their own pre-Con Drink & Draw the night before the show, which is a great opportunity to meet and socialize with con-goers, both fans and pros. It'll be at the Daily Grill, across the street from the Convention Center, and will start at 7 pm. This is a free event to enter, but is restricted to 21 and up attendees.
You can see more information about this, and other great convention sponsored events going on over the weekend, at the ECCC Website. Hope to see you there!

Emerald City ComiCon!
The biggest convention in the Pacific Northwest is almost here! The 11th annual Emerald City ComiCon will be March 1-3 in Seattle, and the Inland Northwest will once again be well represented.
Emerald City is a great event - a comic convention that's growing each year, yet is still more about comics than anything else, and treats both the creators and fans with respect. If you have the opportunity to check it out, we highly recommend it.
* Also a reminder that the first Spokane Drink & Draw of 2013 is this coming Saturday the 23rd at Saranac Public House, from 6-10 pm. This is an all-ages event, and you can find more information and RSVP at the Facebook event page: Drink & Draw Social Club February Spectacular! *
- The Guild will again have it's own spot in Artist Alley, with a table manned by Jeremy Whittington, Jesse Acosta & Matt Brazee. You can find them and their wares at table K-9 (Dr. Who fans rejoice!).
- Matt Nelson (creator of Catbeard the Pirate) and Manny Trembly (creator of Martin Monsterman) will be at table O-20, with plenty of all-ages awesomeness.
- Nathan O'Brien (local artist and Spokane ComiCon head honcho) will be at table U-09 in Artist Alley.
- The ever popular Sketch Crew will also be returning to ECCC, its ranks including local artist Levi Skeen. You can find them next to the Guild at tables K-7 & K-8.
- Erik Thompson (artist of The Adventures of Doctor Zombie) is scheduled to be at the Microbrew Comics booth (#111).
- Northworld's Lars Brown will be at table G-14, showcasing his newest project, Penultimate Quest.
- And Joshua Covey (artist of Freelancers) will be at table G-03, as well as spending some time at the Boom! Studios booth (#2002). You can see the times he'll be there listed on his deviantArt page.

Emerald City ComiCon!
The biggest comic event of the Northwest is almost here - only 2 more days until Emerald City ComiCon! Emerald City is this upcoming weekend, March 30-31st and April 1st, and as usual Spokane will be well represented.
The Guild will be back with our own spot in Artist Alley (A 14), right up front next to our good friends in The Sketch Crew (A 15-17). Sharing time at the Guild table will be Mike Lail, Jeremy Whittington and Lars Brown. And at The Sketch Crew you can find Levi Skeen, Nathan O'Brien and Seattle locals Ben "1314" Hansen and Tony Dela Cruz.
We'll have copies of the 2 volumes of Comicsmiths' Guild Anthologies available for sale, as well as comics, prints and original work by the creators present, and of course will be taking sketch commissions as well. Hope to see you there!

Current Events!
Our next monthly Guild meeting is this upcoming Sunday (the 21st), and is a barbeque at member Levi Skeen's home. He'll be providing burgers and hot dogs, so if you're planning to attend please bring a side and drinks. If you need directions or have questions, please contact the Guild - you can email us through the link found at the upper right of this page.
Next week will also see our third Spokane Drink & Draw of the year, brought to you by Cyrus O'Leary's and the Spokane Comicon! The event will be on Thursday evening (the 25th), from 7 - 11pm, and everyone is welcome. This will be in the regular restaurant area as opposed to the bar, so it will also our first all-ages Drink & Draw! You can RSVP at the Facebook event page: Spokane Drink & Draw Part Tres
Members are hard at work on their contributions to the Guild's second anthology comic, which we hope to release later this year. This will be a themed book, with a collection of scary and spooky tales. When we get closer to a firm release date, we'll have more information about it available here.
The Jet City Comic Show is coming up on September 24th in Seattle, and several Guild members will be in attendance as exhibitors. Confirmed so far are: Levi Skeen, Nathan O'Brian, Mike Lail and Erik Thompson.
And we are also happy to announce that the Guild will once again be present at the Emerald City ComiCon in Seattle! The convention is March 30 - April 1 2012, and we'll have a table in Artist Alley. ECCC is always a great event, and we're excited to be back!
Last, but certainly not least... a while back we decided to do a jam piece, with different people drawing various Green Lantern Corps members. They were pencilled separately by Guild members, and then assembled and finished by our resident inker extraordinaire, Levi Skeen. This was a lot of fun and everyone's really happy with how it came together. We hope to get this colored and available as a Guild-exclusive print, and also want to do more of these type of jam pieces in the future.

Upcoming Events
A reminder to everyone in the area - the Guild's next regular meeting is this coming Sunday (Feb. 20) at Merlyns, 3 pm. We'll be discussing plans and events, including the upcoming Emerald City ComiCon (March 4-6) and Spokane ComiCon (May 21).
The Guild itself will not have a booth at Emerald City, but will be well represented, regardless: Levi Skeen and Nathan O'Brien will be with The Sketch Crew at tables A-15/16/17 in Artist Alley, and Erik Thompson will be with Microbrew Comics at booth 114.
Also, a reminder that the Comicsmiths' Guild Anthology Vol. 1 is available for purchase on-line through IndyPlanet (Order Here!), as well as at local retailers: The Comic Book Shop, Merlyns & Boo Radleys.

Emerald City Wrap-Up!
Emerald City ComiCon was awesome! And we wanted to say thanks to everyone who came by the Spokane Comicsmiths' Guild table, whether it was to buy something, commission a sketch or just hang out and chat. We met a lot of cool people, and ECCC always has such a fun and friendly atmosphere.
The Guild sold a bunch of sketches, sketch cards and prints, and a few books as well. You can see some of the sketches that artists did over on their deviantArt pages, as well as some photos from the weekend over on Jesse Acosta's deviantArt Journal.
We've got a ton of photos from the events, taken by different people, and once we get them all sorted and in one place we should have them posted up here along with everyone's sketches (the one's we were able to get pics of). Right now I think everyone's a bit exhausted from the event and just recuperating, but hopefully we'll get those up soon.
The next convention we'll be at is the Spokane ComiCon in May, and we'll have some other Guild events coming up as well, including sketching for Free Comic Book Day on May 1st at a couple of local comic stores.
If you're interested in learning more about the Guild, our next meeting is this Sunday at Merlyns from 3-6 pm, and we'll be discussing a lot of the plans for upcoming events. Any local artists and writers are welcome!

Just a reminder that Emerald City ComiCon is this weekend and the Guild will be at tables A-16/17. This is right up front, in the first block of Artist Alley.
We'll have mini-comics, prints and sketch cards for sell, and artists Jesse Acosta, Matt Nelson, Peter Foglesong and Zephan Osiris will be available for sketch commissions.
Right next to us (A-18/19/20) will be The Sketch Crew, which also features fellow Guild members Levi Skeen and Nate O'Brien.
Looking forward to seeing everyone there, so stop by, say Hi and meet the Guild!
